| On June 8, Youth
Dynamics, Inc. celebrated 25 years of providing behavioral
health services to thousands of Montana children and their
families. A variety of events were slated throughout the day,
including a review of what the non-profit organization has
achieved throughout its history along with projections of
what lies ahead.
YDI officially began operating in 1981 when it was known
as Volunteers of America. In 1989, Janie McCall of Billings
was the organizer of the agency under the YDI name and served
as its chief executive officer. The only program offered at
that time was therapeutic foster care for children.
YDI has branched out to become a statewide organization with
service locations in Bozeman, Livingston, Miles City, Glendive,
Helena, Wolf Point, Butte, Sidney, Lame Deer, Great Falls
and Boulder. A full continuum of behavioral health care is
provided that allows the agency to tailor customized and comprehensive
treatment plans that reflect the appropriate level of care
for each individual served.
The mission of YDI is to promote partnerships with people
for the provision of progressive family and community centered
behavioral health services.
“The greatest resource we have is our families and
communities we serve,” stated Peter Degel, Executive
Director. “We believe that every child deserves a family.
Because this philosophy is at the very core of our organization,
YDI has become the premier Montana provider of behavioral
health services for children and families.”

Including both full-time and part-time
staff, YDI employs more than 250 individuals with an annual
payroll in excess of $4.5 million. Approximately 900 children
receive services on an annual basis.
“In our quarter-century of service in Montana, it is
extremely rewarding to see the progress of the people we have
served – to watch them graduate from our programs and
services helping them to lead rewarding and productive lives,”
Degel said. “Our success stories are many, as we believe
every child we work with becomes successful, each in their
own individual way. Our logo is a rising sun, signifying a
rising and bright future for the kids and families we serve.
That truly is hat makes everything we do so rewarding.”
YDI is licensed in the following areas: Mental Health Center,
Child Placing Agency, Therapeutic Youth Group Home, Youth
Shelter Care and Youth Group Home.
