Youth Dynamics serves the whole family

By Joseph Boushee, Miles City Star
Jan 12, 2007

Youth Dynamics Inc., has been helping build healthy families and shape strong children for over 25 years.

The organization, designed to help youth with behavioral problems as well as their families, has expanded its services throughout the years to have Youth Case Management, Therapeutic Foster Care, Family Support Teams, foster parenting, and more.

All of the services have a part in accomplishing this non-profit orgnization's goals to provide effective and involved behavioral health services.

"Ultimately, our goal is to help a child to learn, and do what they need to do to maintain in the household," said Area/FSA Coordinator Angie Lohrke.

Lohrke also realizes how important the parents are to the success of a Youth Dynamics Program. She said parents have the role of working to implement the behavioral treatment program into a child's life and also developing goals for the future.

"They're hugely important," she said.

A motto of Youth Dynamics is, "Every child deserves a family." Lohrke stressed the importance of having a strong, secure family unit because of the influence it has on the rest of a child's life.

"If home is good, usually everywhere else is good, too," she said.

Youth Dynamics is in Miles City and in many locations across Montana to offer treatment, and although a program might only last for a brief period in a person's life, the results are meant to carry on for a lifetime.

"We know that we've planted a seed," Lohrke said.
Often times a patient will reflect on the treatment they received earlier in life, Lohrke said, and realize the impact it had on making them a better person.

Youth Dynamics Inc., has service locations in Miles City, Glasgow, Glendive, Butte, Livingston, Great Falls, Helena, Lame Deer, Sidney, Boulder and Wolf Point. Wherever the location is, Youth Dynamics has the same philosophy.

"The greatest resource we have is our families and communities we serve,” Executive Director Peter Degel said in a press release. "We believe that every child deserves a family, and in keeping families together. Because this philosophy is at the very core of our organization, YDI has become the premier Montana provider of behavior health services for children and families."

Those in need of services locally can call Lohrke at the Miles City office at 232-4233. The address is 201 S. Seventh St.

Youth Dynamics is licensed as a mental health center, child placing agency, therapeutic youth group home, youth shelter care and youth group home, according to the press release.
