WHAT ARE FOSTER PARENTS?
Each year, almost 3,000 Montana children enter foster care due to abuse, neglect and other serious difficulties within their families. However, the number of foster families available to provide safe, caring homes for these children has not kept up with the need.
Parents at Youth Dynamics provide care to vulnerable children in their home for as little as two days per month as respite care providers, or up to 2 years or more as foster parents. They provide a safe and stable environment that lays the foundation for a child’s recovery from trauma.
What are the benefits?
- Foster parents at Youth Dynamics have a large supportive community; we hold events and host support groups. It’s a great opportunity to make friends and meet other people in the community.
- Respite services provided by other foster parents are available to help foster parents practice self-care.
- A tax free stipend of approximately $865.00 per month per child placed in foster care or $37/day per child for respite. The reimbursement helps to cover all of the needs that a child in care might have.
- You get to build a relationship with a child and watch them grow and recover from trauma. Foster parent’s positively impact children’s lives, and influence the way they interact with their environment forever.
