Mentoring (Family Support Assistants)

boy-and-old-man-playing-game-closeupMentors are casual, part-time positions working one-on-one with a youth (typically 6 -14, but Youth Dynamics serves youth 0-18) in the community. Like mentors with other programs, mentors organize recreational and learning activities for a child, provide role modeling, and offer emotional support. Unlike other programs, these are paid positions that also provide proven therapeutic benefit to children and teens. As a part of the Treatment Team, mentors play an important role in the youth’s development. Mentor positions generally involve 6-10 hours per week, per child, and mentors may work with more than one youth, depending on their availability. Youth Dynamics offers a comprehensive training program for this position, which is an excellent way to gain experience in the children’s behavioral health field. Youth Dynamics prefers mentors who can commit to a youth for 12 months or longer.

While mentor positions are frequently held by college students (and may qualify for internships for some academic programs in Montana), a mentor position is a great way to give back to the community, while earning some extra income. Our mentors include students, retirees, stay-at-home parents, working professionals, and anyone who loves working with kids and believes in the power of therapeutic treatment!

Youth Dynamics prides itself on a culture of personal responsibility, pride, respect and commitment. Youth Dynamics has high expectations of all employees and offers a high level of support, appreciation, and resources.
