Resources and Assistance for Professionals and Clinicians

While we love working with youth and families, we also enjoy the opportunity to connect with other professionals to provide effective services. This section is specifically designed for social workers, juvenile probation officers, educators, and other professionals to find information and resources quickly and easily.

Most of the youth we work with meet the SED (severely emotionally disturbed) criteria, which includes a DSM-IV diagnosis and levels of impairment in functioning. Typical diagnoses we see include Bipolar Disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Reactive Attachment Disorder, and Major Depression. We also provide many treatment resources for youth who have been affected by abuse, neglect, and/or trauma.

Children’s behavioral health symptoms vary dramatically. Some of the typical symptoms or situations that we can address include:

  • poor social skills
  • separation anxiety
  • isolation and “keeping to themselves”
  • difficulty in school
  • poor attention span
  • unusual shyness
  • nightmares
  • wetting the bed
  • anxiety
  • no plans for the future
  • conflict with peers
  • lack of friends
  • being kicked out of daycare or activities
  • school suspension or expulsion
  • acting out
  • problems with authority
  • fighting
  • inappropriate sexualized behavior
  • bullying behaviors
  • self-harm or thoughts about hurting themselves
  • suicidal thoughts or plans

YDI offers free training on a variety of youth/family behavioral health topics, such as the Montana Children’s Mental Health System, Equine Therapy and Highly Sexualized Youth. We are also often available to deliver presentations about YDI, to participate in community or professional events, to collaborate on local projects, and to provide assistance in any way possible. If you would like to partner with us on any type of project, please view the location map and contact the location nearest you. If you have a statewide project in mind, please contact our Public Relations/Community Education program at helpkids@youthdynamics.org or call 1-877-458-7022.
