After years of hard work, Greater Gallatin Day Treatment Manager, Shawn Helvey, became licensed as a clinical professional counselor.
Shawn received his Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from the University of Central Florida. Shawn joined the Greater Gallatin Day Treatment team in July of 2015 and brought with him eight years of experience doing therapeutic work with children.
Shawn’s past experience focused on wilderness work with adolescents and therapeutic work with children in the education system. Shawn has also worked as a mentor, helping children coming out of therapeutic programs reintegrate into their home environment. Shawn eclectic approach in his work with youth is based in solution-focused and narrative therapy.
