Are you struggling? For many, the last several months have been riddled with trauma and grief. So, you’re not alone if you’ve experienced bouts of sadness due to everything from isolation to change and even the physical loss of loved ones.

That said, if you’re having a hard time, we have a few words of wisdom. We searched the far corners of the internet and put together the best content we could find to encapsulate the struggles that so many of us are experiencing right now. Below are ten of our best quotes on trauma and grief.

Quote 1: “The reality is, you will grieve forever. You will never ‘get over’ the loss of a loved one; you will learn to live with it. You will heal and you will rebuild yourself around the loss you have suffered. You will be whole, but you will never be the same again. Nor should you be the same, nor should you want to.”

Quote 2: “If you don’t feel your best today, allow yourself that space. This is hard. You don’t have to process this all at once.”

Quote 3: “Healing doesn’t have to look magical or pretty. Real healing is hard, exhausting, and draining. Let yourself go through it. Don’t try to paint it anything other than what it is. Be there for yourself with no judgment.”

Quote 4: “A note to anyone who needs to hear it: We don’t ‘get over’ or ‘move on’ from our trauma. We are forced to make space for it. We carry it. We learn to live with it. And, sometimes, we thrive in spite of it.”

Quote 5: “Life has taught me I am not always in control. Life is full of experiences, lessons, heartbreak, and pain. But, it has also shown me love, beauty, possibility, and new beginnings. Embrace it all. It makes us who we are, and after every storm comes a clear sky.”

Quote 6: “Even in times of trauma, we try to maintain a sense of normality until we no longer can. That, my friends, is called surviving. Not healing. We never become whole again—we are survivors. If you are here today, you are a survivor. But those of us who have made it through hell and are still standing? We bear a different name: warriors.

Quote 7: “Strong people aren’t simply born. They’re made by the storms they walk through.”

Quote 8: “You are strong for getting out of bed in the morning when it feels like hell. You are brave for doing things even though they scare you or make you anxious. And, you are amazing for trying and holding on no matter how hard life gets.”

Quote 9: “Even now, as broken as you may feel, you are still so strong. There’s something to be said for how you hold yourself together and keep moving, even though you feel like shattering. Don’t stop. This is your healing. It doesn’t have to be pretty, or graceful. You just have to keep going.”

Remember

Quote 10: “Remember the time you thought you never could survive? You did, and you can do it again.”
